Gaia-X: K-Businesscom is an IT pioneer with the first Austrian digital clearing house
Gaia-X and the Digital Clearing House
The aim of the European Gaia-X project is to enable organizations, companies and users to process and share data efficiently and economically while retaining control over this data. This creates a framework that does justice to fundamental European values and enables a fair chance to participate in the digital market worldwide. To turn the principles and values of Gaia-X into reality, the necessary software components are currently being developed under the coordination of the Gaia-X Association. The Gaia-X Association publishes all specifications of the Gaia-X Federation Services (GXFS) and also makes the entire software code freely available to everyone as open source.
Gaia-X Hubs are the central and country-specific contact points for companies, stakeholders, initiatives, associations and public institutions. They are designed to help Gaia-X initiatives in the local economy to succeed.
The Gaia-X Hub Austria will ensure that Austria as a business location does not waste time in this key phase of the digital transformation. Instead, it will ensure that politics, science and research, business, administration and civil society organizations actively participate in the European Gaia-X initiative and lead the way in some areas.
The Gaia-X Digital Clearing House is a decentralized execution hub for the services of the developed compliance components. This is a set of services hosted by service providers that are not operated by the Association. Companies and organizations that want to implement use cases on a common platform can use these services to maintain compliance and become part of the Gaia-X ecosystem.
K-Businesscom as an enabler for Gaia-X
In cooperation with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, K-Businesscom (KBC) is one of the first companies in Europe and a pioneer in Austria to provide a "GAIA-X Clearing House" as a service. "We are pleased to be a pioneer in enabling secure and sovereign data exchange from our infrastructure for Europe and worldwide," explains Christian Tauber, Head of Product & Platform Management K-Businesscom and Management Board Gaia-X Hub Austria.
With its expertise in platform implementation and operation, combined with innovative HPE technology, KBC has the necessary basis to plan and build Gaia-X Dataspaces. KBC provides support as a consultant, starting with the establishment of a dataspace consortium, the development and rapid testing of use cases, through to business model innovation.
A "dataspace" refers to a type of data relationship between trusted partners who each apply the same high standards and rules for storing and sharing their data. However, central to the concept of a dataspace is that the data is not stored centrally but at source and is therefore only shared when needed.
